Sure, they look great on waifish models & rail-thin celebrities but what about us normal, curvaceous people who hear the word "skinny" and fear for our basic nutrition?
Sassy, I noticed you put a few comments on my blog. They seemed a bit defensive, so I thought I'd try to clear things up. On the laughter post, the point wasn't that there was anything wrong with Filipinos; there's not. The point was that we, the Americans, are the weird ones here; we stick out like sore thumbs. On the other post, I think if you were immersed in American life for several months, you would discover innumerable things about our culture that seem odd, things that contradict a lot of what you learned growing up. Of course, our cultures share a lot, but the differences are essential to who we are; we have to understand the differences alongside the similarities to be able to partner with each other and cooperate in this new century.
